05_2011_vasamuseet.jpg - Vasa-museum, opened in 1990, preserves the only ship intact from the 17th century. Vasa sank in 1628 on her maiden voyage after sailing 1300 meters. Nobody was officially blamed for the catastrophe even though perhaps 30 people drowned. The ship’s lack of stability was a fact: the underwater part of the hull was too small and the ballast insufficient in relation to the rig and cannon.
