Amberg and of- ficially opened in August 1892. Today, it houses the Esbjerg's visitors centre. The statue was raised in 1899 by the citizens of Esbjerg in connec- tion with the town gaining it's municipal borough status. The inscription reads: ‘In Honour of the Founder of the Town, the Citizens of Esbjerg raised this Monument’.
