Cleopatra's Needle has nothing to do with Cleopatra. It is originally made during the reign of the 18th Dynasty Pharaoh Thutmose III. It is made of red granite, stand about 21 metres (68 ft) high, weigh about 224 tons[1] and is inscribed with Egyptian hieroglyphs. It was originally erected in the Egyptian city of Heliopolis. The London obelisk has a pair in New York. (Wikipedia) |
