The Smugglers Inn The Smugglers Inn is a traditional inn-style accommodation in the historic town of Bushmills on the Causeway Coast. It is a great location for exploring the attractions of the north coast of Northern Ireland – the Giant’s Causeway is just one mile away. It incorporates elements of a former church building and has a 45 m tower and spire. The tower houses a peal of ten bells, which can also be chimed to play tunes. It featured greatly in Irish rebellions against English rule in the 16th century and was taken after an eight day siege in 1594. In 1607 it was remodelled and refurbished by Captain William Cole. The riverside tower at the south, known as the Watergate, was added at this time. Methodist Church Designed in 1863 by W. J. Barre and it was opened in 1867. William Scott from Drogheda was the architect. The hall is designed in the Renaissance style. The general façade and most of the tower is faced with Carrickreagh dark limestone and the cornices, columns and figures are in cream Dungannon sandstone. The main doors are oak and were hand carved by the local craftsman, William Scott. The tower is 6 stories high and is topped with a copper dome. Enniskillen In the background there's Forthill Park And Cole's Monument. Started in 1845, the monument took twelve years to complete. It is built in memory of Sir G Lowry Cole G.C.B. A series of 180 spiral steps lead to a viewing platform. Bobby Sands was a member of the Provisional Irish Republican Army who died on hunger strike while imprisoned at HM Prison Maze.
